The Ruins, based on the novel by Scott B. Smith, was Carter’s feature debut and it was confidently directed. The film proved he had the chops to take on more material.
Sadly, he didn’t jump into anything right away.
Instead, he returned to the short film world for Yearbook; earlier this year, however, we have learned that sat in the director’s chair for another feature.
Carter is currently in post-production on Jamie Marks is Dead, an adaptation of the Christopher Barzak novel “One for Sorrow” which is part supernatural thriller, part drama. Noah Silver (The Borgias) plays the eponymous Jamie Marks and he’s joined by Liv Tyler and Judy Greer.

The book was published in 2007, here’s the publisher’s synopsis:
