Test screening reports said the film was “okay” and sources told us that the maneuver was based mostly on finding the right time to debut the film. But it appears director Kimberly Peirce took the time to do some additional shooting.
Star Chloe Moretz explains…
We actually prolonged the film, to be honest, Moretz told Fangoria. We did some reshoots [in Toronto this past May], and added three extra scenes with Julianne [Moore, playing Carries mother Margaret] and I to make the movie even deeper and darker. We prolonged a couple of scenes that needed to have an extra moment or an extra beat just to make it even deeper. It wasnt about cutting anything out or trying to edit around things; it was about adding more to make the movie scarier and more intense.
I’m hearing that Moore really nails it in the movie.
Carrie opens October 18th.
