Locke & Key is Coming to the Big Screen

Today, The Hollywood Reporter says that this deal has finally been put into place and the feature adaptation of the comic will be coming to the big screen from Universal Studios.

Kurtzman and Orci will produce along with their partner Bobby Cohen at  K/O Paper Products.

There’s no mention of whether the pair will pen the screenplay for the film or whether a trilogy is still planned, as was originally rumored, but check back here for future updates on the project.Locke & Key was originally planend as a television series at Fox, with a pilot even being produced, but it was eventually passed without a series pick-up.

The comic series created by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez tells the story of the Locke family who travel to a place called Keyhouse, a New England mansion with fantastic keys that open up doors that give them incredible abilities. The building is also home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all. The series is currently three issues away from the final issue, and we suggest you start catching up now!
