Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is Getting a Sequel

The film grossed an estimated $54 million domestically, however, it raked in $151 million overseas bringing its total box office to $205 million worldwide.  The studio likes those numbers, so, a sequel is getting the green light.

It’s too early to say if Jeremy Renner or Gemma Arterton will return.  Who knows?  For a price, maybe.  But Paramount brought the first film in for a rumored $50 million and I’m certain they’ll want to duplicate that model.

This is the sort of success that keeps the Resident Evil franchise going at Screen Gems.  While the films might do modestly here in the U.S., it’s the overseas numbers that count.

Wirkola told us that he has an idea for a sequel; we’ll keep you posted as more news comes in.
