10 Horror Characters You Need in Your Zombie Survival Group

When Ana (Sarah Polley) is attacked by her undead husband, she doesn’t hesitate to act fast, even if it means crawling out of a tiny bathroom window and avoiding her gun-yielding neighbors. When she meets a group of people and they seek refuge in a mall, she’s not afraid to stand up to the ones who try to push her around. The girl knows how to handle herself – and a gun. Not only is Ana a fighter, she’s a trained nurse who can help sew you up or aid you in any ailments that a zombie may inflict upon you. Not to mention, the girl has a mouth like a truck driver and could definitely win in a war of words. But let’s be honest – what girl couldn’t?

Shaun (Simon Pegg) may have been a loser without a life plan but when life throws you zombies, there’s not really a need to have been a productive member of society. Despite Shaun’s laziness and lack of ambition, he proved that even the people you’d never expect can become heroes. Shaun knows how to avoid zombies by pretending to be one, he can kill the undead during perfectly choreographed musical/fighting numbers, and he’s pretty good at avoiding hard labor. Sometimes being a couch potato can actually pay off; not only will you have good chances of surviving in a zombie apocalypse, but you may even win the girl of your dreams too.

Unlike his unpredictable and ignorant brother, Merle, Darryl (Norman Reedus) has proved that he can overcome his past and become a member of a team. His knowledge of hunting as well as his skills with a crossbow makes him the ideal right-hand-man for any leader. Not only does Daryl know how to work well with others and work for them, he can make Carol drop her panties without even having to try. And, underneath his hard exterior he has heart and compassion for the living, even if he would never admit it. The hillbilly bad boy is street smart so he knows how to deal with confrontation as well as use his toughened experiences to think of things that nobody else would. Hick, reformed racist, archer, and baby whisper; there is nothing that Daryl wouldn’t bring to the table to benefit your survival.

When it comes to zombies and the apocalypse, who you surround yourself with is the key to survival. Think of it as the first day at a new school and picking the popular people to hang with; you don’t actually have to like them but if they can help you move up the ladder, why not use them? Who would you pick to be on your team?
