Texas Chainsaw 3D Wins the Weekend

The direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre dethroned The Hobbit which has been tops at the box office.  The film also performed better in its opening weekend than Leatherface’s last outing in theaters, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, which grossed $18.5 million in its debut.

It could not top, however, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.  When that film opened in 2003, it grossed $28 million during its opening weekend.

So, now what?  Likely a sequel.  The producers told ShockTillYouDrop.com during our set visit that they own the rights for future installments and Alexandra Daddario is contractually obligated to return.  Stay tuned for sequel news as it comes in, of course…
