Matt Reeves – the director of Cloverfield and Let Me In – was revealed last week as one of the names on a short list of directors Fox was looking at for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. ComingSoon.net is reporting today that Reeves has scored the job and will be tackling the sequel that is due in theaters May 23, 2014.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt exited the follow-up a couple of weeks back. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver return on scripting duties and have already turned in a draft that has reportedly been well received.
