Turning Videodrome into an action-thriller seems like a giant “f**k you” to the 1983 original starring James Woods and Deborah Harry. And I can’t see how it will, in any way, capture the seedy, counterculture, technology fetishism Cronenberg’s film had. But whatever, right? I’m sure they’ll be quite happy spoon-feeding us something that looks like Len Wiseman’s Total Recall while removing the core of what Videodrome is.
