Last evening, at midnight (apropos), he held a fan Q&A and spilled a few details.
American Horror Story: Asylum picks up in the ’60s and is set in a mental hospital for the criminally insane. Jessica Lange, Joseph Fiennes, James Cromwell, Adam Levine, Zachary Quinto, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Peters, Britne Oldford, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Chris Zylka and Lizzie Brochere star.
When asked about the significance of “Bloody Face” – which was something teased here – Murphy replied: “Bloody Face is this year’s Rubber Man.”
In addition to a new bogeyman, expect a fresh opening credits sequence as well: “We are shooting a new title sequence with the same team that did last year’s. The song may stay…not sure,” he said.
American Horror Story‘s second season will consist of 13 episodes. Murphy says seven have been written so far, including, “The second episode [which] is our amazing Halloween episode.”
And, finally, he touched on his characters. Asked if Jessica Lange will play a hero or a villain, he replied, “A little bit of both.” And, he added, there will be absolutely no connection, character-wise or story-wise between season one and two.
