Every time someone reports on Ghostbusters 3 a baby cries. The last few years have been rife with rumors and other nonsense regarding who’s on board the script, what Bill Murray’s participation will be (if any) and who might be cast. Recently, Dan Aykroyd told someone, somewhere (honestly, the details of who said what blurs together these days) that Ghostbusters 3 had a new writer on board. Variety learned just who that person is.
According to the outlet, Etan Cohen is now at work on bringing the gang back together for director Ivan Reitman.
Cohen’s credits include this summer’s Men in Black III, Tropic Thunder and Idiocracy. Whether his touch will be golden enough to get Ghostbusters 3 going remains to be seen.
Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky of The Office scripted a previous draft. Plot details are unknown but apparently the film will indeed feature the old team handing off the ghostbusting reins to a younger generation.
