Hack/Slash
What genre would the video game be: Multiplayer Fighting
What should the video game be like: Another childhood defining game for myself – and I imagine for many of you – was Super Smash Bros. Now, just imagine that but with Hack/Slash characters instead of Nintendo characters. Playable characters would include Cassie, Vlad, Cat Curio, Samhain, Grinface, The Lion/Scarecrow/Tin Man, Bobby Brunswick, Acid Angel, The Bomb Queen and of course Herbert West, Victor Crowley and Chucky (the latter three experienced Hack/Slash cross-over events, in case you didn’t know). The game would serve up to four characters at a time fighting each other in various stages, which would have the typical Small Town, Summer Camp, along with a few Hack/Slash exclusives like the Wizard of Oz set, a comic book convention and the hell deminsion. Characters like Pooch and Dr. Elsten could serve as back up characters.
Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash
What genre would the video game be: Wacky Kart Racing
What should the video game be like: This is my controversial pick, I think. Many people would probably argue that turning these characters into wacky cartoons driving cars and throwing obstacles at each other would diminish them as characters, to which I would say, No more than the 1,000 other adaptations of the characters in comic book form have diminished them already. Anyway, let’s picture it, this game would be like Mario Kart except with Jason, Freddy, Ash, Tommy Jarvis, Nancy Thompson, and, hell, let’s go crazy with the hypothetical and throw in Michael Myers, Leatherface, Candyman, Pinhead and Ghostface. This might not sound like fun to you, but being a fan of these characters and Mario Kart I want this game to happen (for those keeping up it would be my third wish from the genie in the lamp). Think of all the different carts, items, and courses you could have from all of these rich franchises!
Hellboy
What genre would the video game be: Action Adventure
What should the video game be like: Here’s where my Arkham City pick comes in. I know that there have been some Hellboy games in the past, but nothing like Arkham City. If the game were given a wide landscape to play in this could be one of the most unique and fun sandbox games of all time. While I would love for it to encompass several of the stories from the comic for the sake of adaptation it might be in the best interest of the game to have an all-new original story but that shouldn’t stop fan favorite monsters from appearing in the game. There would also have to be sections of the game played as Hellboy, Abe, Liz and Johann Krauss. Just picture it, a massive Hellboy adventure with a totally open world, plenty of monsters to shoot, and a story that of course ties in the apocalypse.
