Liongate Vice Chairman Michael Burns was interviewed by CNBC recently. And while the conversation leaned heavily on the potential merger between Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, Burns talked about the future of a few film properties, including one successful franchise involving one Jigsaw.
“I’m sure, some day, you’ll see Saw back in the picture,” Burns said, giving hope to the series’ fans who have helped on to hope that Saw 3D was not the end.
But let’s be honest, I would not expect a new Saw to happen any time soon. The last time I spoke to the producers at Twisted Pictures, they said they would not feel comfortable moving forward on another chapter unless they heard a pitch that blew their minds. A story that felt organic and was, above all, smart.
