Exclusive Pic: More Trouble for Tyler Labine in Cottage Country

Co-starring Malin Akerman

Tucker and Dale Versus Evil‘s Tyler Labine is starring in another dark comedy, Cottage Country, and we’ve got an exclusive first look via the image below, past the press release.

Whizbang Films’ darkly comedic feature, Cottage Country, has begun principal photography and the production has released the first image of Tyler Labine and Malin Akerman. Cottage Country stars Labine (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil), Akerman (Watchmen, The Proposal, Bang Bang Club, Couples Retreat), Daniel Petronijevic (Falling Skies, Todd and the Book of Pure Evil), and Lucy Punch (Bad Teacher, Dinner for Schmucks, Hot Fuzz). Cottage Country is directed by Peter Wellington (Slings & Arrows, Luck, Joe’s So Mean to Josephine), written by Jeremy Boxen (Lost Girl, Endgame, Republic of Doyle, Warriors of Terra) and is produced by Frank Siracusa (Breakaway, Hobo With A Shotgun, Passchendaele) with Paul Gross (Passchendaele, Men With Brooms) and Frank Siracusa serving as Executive Producers. Filming runs from September 26 through October 27, 2011 in Muskoka and Toronto, Ontario and is slated for release in 2012.

Todd (Labine) wants everything to be just perfect at the family cottage where he plans to propose to Cammie (Akerman). But things go awry with the arrival of Todd’s slacker brother Salinger (Petronijevic) and his free-spirited girlfriend Masha (Punch). When Todd accidently dispatches his irksome sibling with an axe, Cammie is determined not to let murder stand in the way of their happiness.

“Cottage Country is a comedy about brotherly love, deceit and murder – something we can all relate to,” says producer Frank Siracusa of Whizbang Films.

Cinematography for Cottage Country by Luc Montpellier (Take This Waltz, Cairo Time, Away From Her), with production design by Phillip Barker (Breakaway, Chloe, Adoration), costume design by Lea Carlson (Take This Waltz, This Movie is Broken, Oliver Sherman), editing by Christopher Donaldson (Take This Waltz, Act of Dishonour, Global Metal) and casting by Libby Goldstein in Los Angeles and Lisa Parasyn Casting in Toronto.

Cottage Country is developed and produced by Whizbang Films with the participation of Telefilm Canada, Astral’s Harold Greenberg Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Ontario Media Development Corporation and distributed in Canada by Alliance Films.
