Weinsteins pull film from release
The Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers-starring thriller Shelter isn’t opening in the U.S. on February 25, as planned.
The Weinstein Company acquired the film last year and it has been bouncing around various releasing dates while Shelter has moved ahead and opened overseas in theaters.
That’s partially the reason, it seems, we’re not seeing it open. The L.A. Times says U.S. theater chains are “disinclined” to put films that have already played across the globe (and are on DVD) on screen.
Directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Underworld: New Dawn), Shelter finds Moore playing a female forensic psychiatrist discovers that all of one of her patient’s multiple personalities are murder victims. She will have to find out what’s happening before her time is finished.
Presently, The Weinstein Company hasn’t revealed any alternate release plans for Shelter.
