You’ll Have to Wait Longer for The Cabin in the Woods

The Goddard, Whedon monster film

If you were planning a trip to The Cabin in the Woods, you better make other arrangements.

The horror film – directed and co-written by Drew Goddard and co-written by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer – has been removed entirely from the January 2011 release schedule. Chalk it up to an ailing distributor, MGM, who has also decided to push the release of its Red Dawn remake. Alternate release dates for either film have not been offered.

This is the latest push for Cabin. The film was shoved out of a January 2010 slot so the filmmakers could take a year to post-convert it to 3D, but sources tell us that never happened.

The Cabin in the Woods is a spin on the “kids stuck in a cabin” formula and introduces monsters. Lots and lots of monsters.
