Update: Case 39 Trailer, Opening October 1

Long-delayed thriller starring Renée Zellweger

Update: You can watch the trailer RIGHT HERE!

According to our sources, Paramount will finally release Christian Alvart’s Case 39 starring Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane and Bradley Cooper on October 1, through their Paramount Vantage imprint.

It’s been a long road for the thriller which filmed in Vancouver in the fall of 2006 and was completed in September 2007 before being put on the shelf for three years. In the interim, Alvart’s third movie Pandorum was released so his second movie is being released nearly a year afterwards. The first trailer for the movie was released nearly a year ago, but the official website has since disappeared. Considering how long this movie has been on the shelf, it’s not likely Paramount will be giving it a big marketing push for its theatrical release and are just giving it a nominal theatrical before sending it to DVD.

In the movie, Zellweger plays “an idealistic social worker saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents only to discover that the girl is not as innocent as she thinks.”
