Anderson, McLean and De Palma are possibilities?
Earlier this month, Lionsgate excised their option on director Kevin Greutert to get him back at the helm for Saw VII 3D, hence preventing him for directing Paranormal Activity 2 for Paramount as initially announced. Since then, we haven’t heard much about a replacement for the sequel to Oren Peli’s super successful indie flick.
The LA Times Blog has a list of a few potential candidates to steer the anticipated sequel into theaters by it’s proposed October 22nd release date later this year.
Brad Anderson (Transsiberian, The Machinist, Session 9) and Greg McLean (Wolf Creek, Rogue) are two names being speculated in the piece, as well as Akiva Goldsman, a powerhouse producer (and writer) on movies such as I Am Legend, Beautiful Mind and Jonah Hex.
The most surprising however is… Brian De Palma, the iconic auteur director behind Carrie, Dressed To Kill, Raising Cain and The Untouchables.
So will it be Anderson, McLean or… De Palma? If Paramount plans on keeping that October 22nd release date, we’ll should be hearing a confirmed director soon enough.
