ABC series casts up
Will two great television tastes taste great together? ABC is taking the cop show formula and infusing it with elements that make True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural successes. The outcome will be The Gates, a new series making its debut this summer.
Here a bit city cop becomes the chief of police of a sleepy “planned community” and discovers the residents are not all they’re cracked up to be. Richard Hatem and Grant Scharbo serve as writers. Hatem produced The Mothman Diaries and is a Supernatural and Dead Zone vet.
Frank Grillo – seen in the upcoming Mother’s Day – has taken the lead role. Luke Mably is a “vampire-like creature.” Janina Gavankar and Chandra West plays a local cop and a tea shop owner, respectively.
Shooting begins next month in Louisiana.
