Slamdance Premieres YellowBrickRoad

New Cthulhu movie also amongst line-up



The slate for the upcoming Slamdance 2010 competition, which now enters it’s 16th year and runs from January 21-28 in Park City, Utah, has been announced via Variety. Of a record 5000 submissions, 18 titles were selected, 10 narrative and eight documentary feature films, 11 of them world premieres. (Paranormal Activity got it’s premiere at Slamdance back in 2008)

Among the queue is writer/directors Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton’s YellowBrickRoad, which stars stars Cassidy Freeman, Clark Freeman, Anessa Ramsey (The Signal), Lee Wilkof, Laura Heisler and Alex Draper (Joshua). In the film, an expedition looks for answers to something horrible in the forest, but the forest finds something horrible in them. Also, The Last Lovecraft: The Relic of Cthulhu directed by Henry Saine, in which an ordinary guy is stuck in his boring life until a strange old man gives him an ancient relic and tells him that he’s the last bloodline of H.P. Lovecraft. It stars Devin McGinn and Kyle Davis.

Worth mentioning, one of the documentaries premiering is William Burroughs: A Man Within by Yony Leyser. It’s a portrait of the Beat author and American icon, with David Cronenberg, Gus Van Sant, Peter Weller, Iggy Pop and Laurie Anderson.
