George A. Romero’s Pulp of the Dead

Zombie godfather turns to novels

George Romero’s a man with ideas. He often finds he can’t always find the money to put them on the big screen. Fortunately, there are other mediums through which to tell his stories, particularly the ones involving the walking dead.

In 2004, Romero teamed with DC for “Toe Tags” a zombie mini-series. This year, it appears he’s partnering with the New York-based Grand Central Publishing for a pair of novels set within his Dead universe. With so many authors out there cornering the market on zombie tales, there’s more than enough room for Romero to muscle his way in.

According to DreadCentral.com, book one “will feature Romero laying down the ground rules of the zombie epidemic right from the beginning of the end.” Expect it to hit shelves in the summer of 2010. Book two will follow thereafter.

Romero is currently in post-production on an untitled zombie film. You can watch an early trailer here.
