Whedon, Goddard Find Their Cabin Kids

Principal photography has begun

Kristen Connolly (The Happening), Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek), Anna Hutchison (Underbelly), Fran Kranz (Dollhouse) and Jesse Williams (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2) make up the ensemble venturing out to Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods, the highly secretive horror film which is said to twist and turn genre conventions on their head.

“Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding,” Whedon says via a press release. “Each of the ‘kids’ is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we’ve corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can’t wait to harm them.”

Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford were the first two names to join the cast. Shooting has reportedly already begun for MGM. The film is on track for a February 5, 2010 release. Character and plot details are still being withheld at this time.
