Where is Harrison’s Book of Blood?

Clive Barker adaptation heading to TV

Completed last fall, John Harrison’s Book of Blood is one Clive Barker adaptation that has gone missing in action. Shock spied a screening of it at the American Film Market, but little news has come about since then regarding its distribution.

Fangoria spoke with Harrison recently, and right out of the gate they queried about its release to which the director responded: “Well, I’ll be honest about it, it’s done but it’s struggling. It turned out well and I’m very happy with it, but my timing was impeccable as I finished it just when the stock market crashed. Right now, we’re looking at a possible network TV deal with a DVD sale to follow, which is fine as that’s where the film would play most successfully anyway.”

This is just a bit of speculation, but it’s possible the Sci-Fi Channel could pick up the film – an adaptation of Barker’s “The Book of Blood” and “On Jerusalem Street.” Then again, it would be ideal for Starz who could then turn it around to Anchor Bay for DVD distro.

Again, speculation.

In Book of Blood, paranormal researcher Mary Florescu’s investigations lead her to Simon McNeal, a college student who appears to be channeling messages from the dead. As their erotic relationship develops the line between the worlds of the living and the dead become blurred and finally collapse in a stunning and astonishing climax.
