Anderson Talks Resident Evil 4, Castlevania

One is progressing, one is on hold

Paul W.S. Anderson updated IGN on a number of projects, namely the big guns you want to hear about: Resident Evil 4 and Castlevania.

The bad news first: According to Anderson, Castlevania, which he penned, is in a holding pattern due to a number of things. The director points his finger to Rogue Pictures, a company which is well on its way into being bought by Relativity. Last year’s WGA strike mucked things up and the potential SAG strike is making those involved in the project skittish.

“We still want to make the movie, but I can’t say we’re going into production in January or anything like that. It’s a project that everybody likes. I love the video game. I think the script is really strong. Everyone is really enthusiastic about it, but we’re still in the process of deciding when the movie gets shot,” he says. Sylvain White is still attached to direct.

As for Resident Evil 4, Anderson says he’s plugging away at a script now. That’s a change from October’s update in which he stated he’ll begin writing soon. “Everyone at [game developer] Capcom has had their input into the idea and they’re all very excited. I don’t want to tell you what it is but it’s very exciting.”

Anderson goes on to address one incessant fan complaint about the live-action series. Click here to read more.
