Sam Raimi to Direct Drag Me to Hell!

Evil Dead trilogy director’s return to horror

“Evil Dead” and “Spider-Man” trilogy helmer Sam Raimi is leaping back into horror. According to Variety, he’ll be directing Drag Me to Hell for his production outfit Ghost House Pictures.

Written by Sam and brother Ivan Raimi, this “morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse” will begin shooting early next year.

“Sam calls it a ‘spook-a-blast,’ a wild ride with all the chills and spills that ‘Evil Dead’ delivered, without relying on the excessive violence of that film,” co-produer Rob Tapert tells Variety. “When one has done three very expensive movies, they get used to eating caviar. Sam will have to ponder what it means to come down from the mountaintop for a moment.”

That’s an f’in awesome quote. Tapert added “Hell” was penned shortly after Army of Darkness in the early-’90s. This is the first film Raimi has directed for Ghost House.
