Screen Gems’ upcoming remake starring Dylan Walsh
Three pages of script “sides” for Sony Screen Gems’ update of The Stepfather landed on our doorstep. These excerpts (penned by writer Joe Cardone) culled from the screenplay were used during the casting process.
Actors auditioning for a specific role will be given their sides to get acquainted with the material prior to stepping before the casting agent. Sometimes the script pages don’t accurately reflect what will hit the screen as changes are often made during shooting (but due to the strike, no changes can be made to a script these days).
Directed by Nelson McCormick, this modern spin on the ’80s thriller focuses on a teenage boy who discovers his new stepfather is a serial killer who has murdered multiple families. Dylan Walsh (“Nip/Tuck”) stars at the titular creep alongside Sela Ward, Penn Badley and Adrianne Palicki.
