Storyline fleshed out
Sources tell us actors Josh Hutcherson (Zathura) and Chris Kelly have joined the cast of Paul Weitz’s Cirque du Freak.
We presume Hutcherson will play Darren Shan, a young man who, after attending an illegal freak show with his best friend, decides to become a vampire’s assistant in order to save his best friend’s life. Forced to leave his home and family forever, Darren joins the freak show where he meets a host of bizarre creatures and finds himself at the center of a war between the vampires and a rival clan
Lauren Shuler Donner and Brian Helgeland are producing for Universal Pictures. It was recently announced that John C. Reilly is playing the vampire who takes Shan under his wing.
