The Oscar-winning Robert Zemeckis horror comedy Death Becomes Her is being adapted for the stage and transformed into a musical.
Variety reported on the news and revealed it will be directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, with music and lyrics by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey.
The original 1992 movie saw Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn as friends who are given a potion that gifts them immortality. Unfortunately, that’s not the great thing they thought it would be. Isabella Rossellini, and Bruce Willis also starred in the darkly funny comedy.
Death Becomes Her: The Musical
Broadway actor Megan Hilty will take on Meryl Streep’s role of Madeline Ashton, a vanity-obsessed actor out to revitalize her youth and career in any way possible. Jennifer Simard will be in Hawn’s role as Helen Sharp, Madeline’s long-time friend and possibly secret enemy.
Hilty took to Instagram to announce her involvement.
Death Becomes Her: The Musical is set to premiere at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre on April 30, 2024, and runs until June 2, 2024.
