While we eagerly await a Gremlins 3 film, fans of the series can venture to multiplexes this Christmas to enjoy the original on the big screen. That’s right, the Joe Dante/Steven Spielberg classic is receiving a re-release via the Regal theater chain from Dec. 6 – 11.
Here’s the kicker: according to Joblo, the film will screen in 4DX, which is described as “high-tech motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents.” I mean, if you’re going to see a film in this format it might as well be a film filled with slimy, disgusting creatures, right?

Here’s the official synopsis for the film: “A gadget salesman looking for a special gift for his son who finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `Mogwai’ but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.”
