Blake Lively & Melissa Benoist Relationship Explained

With the recent release of the Netflix show The Waterfront, 36-year-old actress Melissa Benoist has once again landed in the media spotlight. As such, fans have swarmed onto the internet to ask questions about the star and her personal life. However, many fans are specifically interested in learning more about her supposed connection to Blake Lively. But are the two celebrities actually related to one another?

Here’s everything you need to know about Benoist’s relationship with the Gossip Girl alumna.

Contrary to popular belief, the two actresses do not share any association whatsoever. The only reason why fans continue to search for a connection between them has to do with their physical resemblance.

Aside from having similar facial features, Blake Lively and Melissa Benoist end up looking distinctly alike while sporting a matching hairstyle. While Lively has long had a blonde look, Benoist tends to modify the color of her hair on a frequent basis.

However, during the period when she chose to sport blonde hair, Benoist’s appearance became almost identical to that of Lively, causing fans to wonder if the two were actually related to each other. Despite the uncanny similarities in their looks, Lively and the Glee actress are not connected to each other in any way.

Additionally, the pair has not collaborated with one another in any television or big-screen project. Nevertheless, they do have one thing in common when it comes to their work in the entertainment industry. Both Blake Lively and Melissa Benoist have worked on projects based on DC Comics, with the former portraying the role of Carol Ferris in the Ryan Reynolds-led Green Lantern film. Meanwhile, Benoist is famous for playing the titular character in The CW’s Supergirl series during its six-season run from 2015 to 2021.

Since then, Lively has followed in the footsteps of her husband and jumped ships to Marvel, making a brief appearance as Lady Deadpool in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Meanwhile, Benoist’s latest project is The Waterfront, a crime drama series set in North Carolina.
