Rumors are rife among WWE fans that Damage CTRL has been disbanded. The group, which featured Bayley, IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane, has seen key members sidelined by injury or released. With no official announcement from WWE, viewers are curious to know what happened.
Here are more details about the current status of Damage CTRL as well as the rumors surrounding the group.
Was Damage CTRL disbanded at WWE?
WWE has reportedly disbanded the women’s faction Damage CTRL, quietly ending the once-powerful group behind the scenes.
According to Fightful Select, the decision was made internally in early May 2025, around the same time Dakota Kai was released from her WWE contract. Following her exit, WWE commentators were instructed to stop referring to any of the remaining members as part of Damage CTRL.
Per a May report by 4II Mania, the downfall of Damage CTRL has been gradual over recent months. Bayley, the faction’s founder and leader, split from the group before WrestleMania 40. Dakota Kai’s release also removed another key member. Meanwhile, with both Asuka and Kairi Sane sidelined due to injuries, IYO SKY was left as the only active competitor. By the time Kairi returned to WWE programming later in May, the group had already been dissolved.
When asked whether the stable could return once Asuka is back in action, WWE insiders told Fightful that there are currently no plans in place for a full reunion. Nevertheless, they did not rule out the possibility of some of the former members teaming up again in the future. The Damage CTRL name may also be brought back eventually. But, for now, the group is considered officially inactive.
Even with the stable disbanded, some of the former members have continued to appear together on WWE television. IYO SKY and Kairi Sane have been featured alongside each other in recent weeks. Similarly, Asuka could potentially reunite with them once she is medically cleared.
Meanwhile, Bayley has returned to WWE television in a new solo role. Earlier this month, she kicked off a fresh feud with WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch.
