Jax Taylor confirmed that his departure from Vanderpump Rules stemmed from behind-the-scenes tension with production.
During a March 2025 episode of his podcast In The Mind of a Man, Jax admitted he was “micromanaging production” and refused to film a scheduled scene in Malibu, citing long travel times and suggesting a location closer to home.
Jax explained, “They wanted us to go to the beach and help clean – which is fine – but I just was not f*cking doing it. I was not going to drive three hours.” He revealed that this incident, combined with his prior behavior, contributed to his exit. He added, “I feel like that was my nail in the coffin because I’ve rubbed [the producers wrong] throughout the years.”
Alex Baskin, executive producer of Vanderpump Rules, appeared on Jax’s podcast and provided further context. He stated, “You were being a pain in the ass about it and you were saying, ‘I’m not going to go, this is so stupid.’ Then you were texting other people… so of course, we saw those texts and were like, ‘Can you believe Jax is sabotaging the production?’”
At the time of his departure, Jax was also dealing with substance abuse. He later revealed that his struggles lasted over two decades. He is now sober and stars in The Valley with his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright. Season 2 of the spinoff will focus on their divorce and co-parenting journey.
