Who Went Home on American Idol? Top 5 Contestants & Results Listed

Wondering who made it into American Idol’s Top 5 and who went home during Disney Night 2025? With the finale just one week away, the competition narrowed after a night of iconic Disney performances and heartfelt Mother’s Day tributes.

Here’s who made it to the Top 5—and which two contestants America voted to eliminate.

Who got eliminated and went home on American Idol tonight on May 11?

American Idol eliminated Gabby Samone and Mattie Pruitt during the May 11 episode of Season 23. The show revealed the results at the end of Disney Night 1, which featured performances inspired by Disney songs and Mother’s Day tributes.

Gabby sang “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana and “Home” from The Wiz, while Mattie performed “Remember Me” from Coco and “Those Kind of Women” by Lauren Alaina. America voted after the episode, and those votes determined their eliminations. According to USA Today, “the fan vote for the Top 5 sent two contestants packing.” ABC announced the Top 5 at the end of the episode.

The Top 5 contestants moving forward in American Idol Season 23 are:

  • Slater Nalley
  • Breanna Nix
  • John Foster
  • Jamal Roberts
  • Thunderstorm Artis

These five contestants survived the first part of the two-night Disney Night event. Each remaining artist performed a Disney song and a Mother’s Day tribute. Guest mentor Lin-Manuel Miranda helped coach their Disney selections.

Thunderstorm Artis performed “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas and debuted his original song “Out of the Blue,” dedicated to his wife Faith. Slater Nalley delivered “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” Jamal Roberts performed “Go the Distance” and “A Change Is Gonna Come.” Breanna Nix chose “Reflection” and “Like My Mother Does,” while John Foster sang “Almost There” and “Believe.”

ABC will reveal the Top 3 in the next episode on May 12.
