When is iZombie leaving Netflix?
iZombie is reportedly expected to leave Netflix on September 6, 2024, as per What’s on Netflix.
So fans who want to see the sci-fi comedy crime-drama have only about two-to-three weeks to stream all five seasons of the show.
Why is iZombie leaving Netflix?
iZombie is leaving Netflix because of the expiration of the licensing agreement between the streaming giant and The CW, the network that originally ran the show. The CW and Netflix chose not to renew the agreement following its expiry.
Netflix and The CW first inked their streaming deal in 2011. They later renewed this deal in 2016. The 2016 deal allowed Netflix subscribers to stream full seasons of The CW shows eight days after each series’ season finale. However, in 2019, both parties decided not to renew the deal (via Deadline).
iZombie is developed by Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero. Thomas is noted for his work on shows like Veronica Mars, Party Down, and 90210. The story of iZombie follows a medical student who turns into a zombie. She joins a coroner’s office with the goal of finding brains of deceased people to eat to retain her humanity.
However, after eating each brain, she absorbs the memories from that brain. This prompts her to solve the murders of the people whose brains she ate. She is aided in her investigations by a medical examiner and police officer.
Rose McIver leads the cast of iZombie as Olivia “Liv” Moore. She is joined by supporting cast members like David Anders, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, and several others.
