The defensive end, who was acquired by the New York Jets just a few months ago, has now requested a trade from the team. This development follows a series of complications regarding his contract and communication with the Jets.

The team traded for Haason Reddick with the understanding that he was seeking a contract adjustment. However, despite Reddick turning down a below-market offer from the Jets before the trade, the team did not finalize a new deal.

The Jets proceeded with the trade without securing a long-term extension. They based this decision on information from Haason Reddick’s representatives, who stated that he would play under his existing contract. Reddick’s camp, however, expected to negotiate a new deal before training camp.

As a result, Reddick has not participated in any of the Jets’ early summer programs or mandatory minicamp. He has reportedly accrued fines of $100,000 for his absence. The Jets have maintained a nonchalant stance even as Reddick’s holdout has now extended to 21 days, resulting in additional mandatory fines of $50,000 per day.

Did the New York Jets accept Haason Reddick’s trade request?

The New York Jets have firmly rejected Haason Reddick’s trade request. In a decisive response, the team made it clear that they have no intention of honoring his demand.

In a statement, General Manager Joe Douglas said, “We have informed Haason that we will not trade him, that he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report. Since the trade discussions back in March, we have been clear, direct, and consistent with our position. Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season.”  (via NFL)
