House of the Dragon Season 2: Does Rhaena Ride A Dragon?

Fans watching House of the Dragon Season 2 want to know if Rhaena gets to ride a dragon in the Fire and Blood book. They also want to know if Rhaena will claim and ride Sheepstealer instead of Nettles. In Season 2, Rhaena, who was left dragonless after her dragon died shortly after its birth, was dispatched by Rhaenyra from Dragonstone to the Vale to watch over her youngest kids Aegon, Joffrey, and Viserys. Rhaena also got the task of looking after four dragon eggs. Recently in Episode 6, Rhaena learned of a dragon causing havoc in the Vale’s wildlife and believed it to be the key to her re-entrance in the Dance of the Dragons.

So does Rhaena Targaryen get a dragon in the Fire & Blood book? Is Rhaena poised to get Sheepstealer instead of Nettles in House of the Dragon Season 2? Here are your answers.

Does House of the Dragon’s Rhaena get a dragon in the book?

Rhaena is dragonless for most of the Dance of the Dragons event in the book. However, she eventually gets a dragon when one of the eggs given to her hatches. She bonds immediately with this dragon and calls it Morning.

Morning’s birth was considered by many to be a miracle. This was due to the Dance of the Dragons drastically affecting most of the older dragons.

However, Morning’s birth greatly worried Team Green, who received word of it around 131 AC. This is because they believed that Morning’s birth would help solidify Team Black’s greater stake in the throne in the eyes of the commoners or smallfolk.

Moreover, while the smallfolk embraced Morning, King Aegon III Targaryen was greatly fearful of it due to his fear of dragons. Aegon III even went as far as to command his guards to keep Morning away from him.

Will Rhaena claim and ride Sheepstealer instead of Nettles in House of the Dragon Season 2?

Rhaena will likely claim and ride Sheepstealer instead of Nettles in House of the Dragon Season 2. There is a theory going around suggesting Nettles’ removal from the show.

In the books, Nettles is the one who claims and rides Sheepstealer. Nettles slowly forms a bond with the dragon by offering slaughtered sheep to him every morning. Sheepstealer and Nettles’ bond eventually grows strong and the former lets the latter ride him.

However, Nettles has so far not been introduced in Season 2. Moreover, as per The Wrap, the dragon attacking the sheep is likely Sheepstealer. Furthermore, Rhaena, who was informed of this dragon is hoping to bond with it. Thus, this makes Rhaena getting and riding Sheepstealer instead of Nettles all the more likely.
