Only a few more days are left for the much-awaited Deadpool & Wolverine to come out in theaters. The box office prediction for the movie looks quite good, especially for the opening weekend as fans will try to avoid spoilers. However, even though it is now part of the MCU, the film is still R-rated, and that could affect the numbers. So let’s look at Deadpool & Wolverine’s box office prediction and see how much the film will make.
How much is Deadpool & Wolverine predicted to make at the box office?
Many sources have estimated Deadpool and Wolverine to make around $160 million during its opening at the box office.
About a month ago, Deadline predicted the film to make around $200 million during its opening weekend. However, other sources have predicted a lower number of around $160 million. Even this figure is quite high when compared to the first Deadpool film which made a $132.4 million opening — the current highest opening for an R-rated film. Hence, if Deadpool & Wolverine reaches the projected numbers, it will overtake the original Deadpool film.
The first Deadpool movie came out in 2016, and we can assume that there are more Deadpool fans today over the age of 18. Even though it is technically the first R-rated MCU movie, this threequel could beat the original film with its box office opening.
Will Deadpool & Wolverine flop or succeed?
Deadpool & Wolverine seems like it will turn out to be a big success.
While it all comes down to whether the audience likes the plot or not, the film’s previews look very enticing. With many connections and references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine donning the iconic yellow and blue suit from the cartoons/comics, we can only expect two full hours of fun and surprises. Also, with Shawn Levy as the director, and the comedic chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, this could turn out to be the best Deadpool movie of the three.
As of now, before its release, there seems to be no way in which the film can disappoint fans. Hence, we will just have to wait and see what’s in store for us with Deadpool & Wolverine.
