Thus, fans have been eagerly waiting to learn what the third and final has in store for them. They also want to know how the ending of the monster saga has turned out.
In the third season, viewers see Hyun-Su (Song Kang) and Eun-Yoo (Go Min-Si) reuniting with Lee Eun-Hyeok (Lee Do-Hyun), who has now become a neohuman. The final season also shows the monster version of Sang-Won, which has been living inside Pyeon Sang-Wook’s (Lee Jin-Young) body, taking over his mutant daughter Seo Yi-Su’s (Kim Si-A) body. Sweet Home Season 3 ending: Does the monster version of Sang-Won get defeated?
Sweet Home season 3 finale begins with Hyun-Su and Eun-Hyeok fighting with the Sang-Won monster inside Yi-Su’s body and the massive army it created. Eun-Hyeok, who is now a neohuman, wants to kill Yi-Su to eliminate the monster within her. However, Hyun-Su stops him as he wants to save her. He believes he can bring her human version back just like he did to her mother, Yi-Kyung (Lee Si-Young).
However, a flying bat-like monster takes Hyun-Su away from the battlefield. At that moment, Eun-Hyeok attacks Yi-Su. The human version of Yi-Su inside the body takes over the monster and lets Eun-Hyeok attack her. Thus, the monster emerges from Yi-Su’s body, and she is left severely injured.
Hyun-Su fights the flying monster and rushes to Yi-Su. After he takes her under a shed, she reveals that she purposely took the hit earlier as she wants to reunite with her late mother and no longer wishes to live. She further asks Hyun-Su to kill his father and end the war.
In the finale of Sweet Home season 3, Hyun-Su returns to the battlefield to fight Sang-Won’s monster. Soon, he realizes that it has taken over Pyeon Sang-Wook’s (Lee Jin-Wook) body again, knowing that he is Hyun-Su’s weakness.
However, this time, Hyun Su decides not to get deceived by the monster and resolves to kill it for good. Eun-Hyeok also offers to kill the monster. But soon, they realize that the human version of Sang-Won, who is still alive inside the monster, takes over and starts controlling the body. He makes him crawl into a massive pit of fire to kill himself and the monster. Thus, the monster is defeated. As he dies, her daughter’s body also feels the pain.
What happens at the end of Sweet Home season 3 (finale)?
Towards the end of the finale of Sweet Home season 3, viewers see that the war between the monsters and humans has stopped. Right before that, Sergeant Tak In-Hwan (Yu Oh-Seong) helps the other survivors escape the war after becoming a monster. Even in his monster form, he helps people. After the war is over, Sergeant Kim Young-Hoo (Kim Mu-Yeol) becomes the leader and takes care of the survivors.
In the meantime, the finale shows that Eun-Yoo (Go Min-Si) has turned into a monster after her dark thoughts take over her body and mind. Both Hyun-Su and Eun-Hyeok could not find her. However, Eun-Hyeok tells Hyun-Su that she will join his kind, which means she will also be reborn as a neohuman. Eun-Hyeok then part ways with Hyun-Su.
Following this, in the Sweet Home season 3 finale, the audience sees Hyun-Su bringing the other survivors safely to the stadium, where the remaining survivors are staying under the care of Kim Young-Hoo and the other soldiers. They decide to move from there, and Hyun-Su suggests that they should all do it together.
At the end of the K-drama, Hyun-Su, the soldiers, and the other survivors come across a group of neohumans. Despite some conservation, they decide to give them space amongst themselves. The finale then shows Hyun-Su meeting Eun-Hyeok on the rooftop of a building.
The two see Eun-Yoo walking over the edge of the roof while listening to music. They stare at her while smiling. It looks like she has become a neohuman, and there is still hope for her human emotions to be alive inside her. The K-drama ends with Hyun-Su calling this new era their “Sweet Home.”
