How does Srikanth meet Devika?

Srikanth begins with the birth of its titular character in Andhra Pradesh. While his parents are immensely happy about their son’s birth, they soon find out that he is blind. After taking the society’s advice, his father agrees to kill him, but his mother saves him. Growing up, everyone tells Srikanth that he will not be able to work in his life and will have to beg for money. However, he is not ready to choose this fate for himself and wishes to change his destiny.

Seeing how brilliant Srikanth is in his studies, his teacher advises his father to send him to a special school in Hyderabad. As his education would not cost anything, Srikanth’s father sends him. There he meets his new teacher Devika (played by Jyothika). Srikanth showcases his complete dedication to studies at the school. However, when he stands up against the school trustees for serving students food of poor quality, he gets expelled. A helpless Srikanth wanders on the streets when Devika finds him and decides to become his guardian.

As Srikanth graduates from school, the Indian education system does not allow him to acquire a seat in the science stream in college. He files a case against the system and wins. Meanwhile, he also gets selected for the Indian cricket team and fulfills his father’s dream. But, when he gets selected in four different colleges abroad, he decides to pursue his education. He soon flies to Boston for his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At this point, he meets the love of his life, Swathi. They form a beautiful friendship and lead a happy life in the US. However, she encourages Srikanth to return to India and work for other disabled people.

Does Srikanth achieve his dream?

Srikanth returns to India and begins educating disabled students with Devika. However, he soon learns that there are no jobs for them. He then aims to start his own company, Bollant, and provide the disabled with employment. He receives support from the former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam and another businessman, Ravi.

As Srikanth succeeds in providing the disabled with employment, he is filled with pride and chooses to also pursue politics. When several people try to take advantage of his disability, Devika helps him get back on track. In the end, Srikanth is awarded for his business but in a special category. However, he refuses to accept the accolade due to the category. In his heartwarming speech, he thanks his parents, Devika, Ravi, and ladylove Swathi. He further promises the audience to win the award without any category.

Srikanth Bolla brought revolutionary changes to the Indian education system and inspired millions with his visionary approach. Even late APJ Abdul Kalam once lauded him for his confidence and dedication to achieve his dreams.

After its theatrical run, Srikanth is currently streaming on Netflix.
