SM Entertainment’s supergroup NCT 127 debuted in 2016. Since then, the group has undergone a few changes in their formation. As a unit of Neo Cultural Technology, the group has achieved significant success, selling over three million copies in a single comeback season.
The group also showed its global impact by charting high on international music charts. Their albums, Sticker and 2 Baddies, ranked third on the Billboard 200 chart. Their second album, NCT #127: Neo Zone, had charted at number 5.
NCT 127 members: Who are the K-pop idols?
K-pop unit NCT 127 has eight active members, including Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Doyoung Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark, and Haechan. The act’s leader, Taeyong, currently serves in the military, so he won’t be able to participate in any promotional activities.
Chinese member Winwin, who was initially part of NCT 127, has also not participated in the recent few comebacks due to his commitment to fillings. However, he is still part of NCT so that fans might see him in future activities.

While Lee Taeyong is on military leave in 2024, he remains a crucial part of NCT 127. The 29-year-old K-pop icon is the group’s leader, main rapper, main dancer, and sub-vocalist. After spending almost half a decade with NCT, he made his solo debut in 2023 with the EP Shalala.
His first EP sold over half a million units within a week of its release, resulting in the chart at number 2 on South Korea’s Circle Album Chart. He also made a comeback in 2024 before leaving for the military. The “Love Theory” crooner dropped the EP Tap, which ranked number 3 on the Circle Album Chart in the debut week.
Taeil
(Birthday: June 14, 1994)
Taeil, the lead vocalist of NCT 127, is the group’s oldest member. The 30-year-old K-pop star has impressed fans worldwide as an idol and an excellent OST singer. The singer has recently sung for some of the most famous K-dramas.
Some of Taeil’s most famous K-drama songs include “Stay By My Side” for Missing Crown Prince, “Starlight” for Twenty Five Twenty One, and “Wave” for Captivating The King. Apart from drama tracks, Taeil has sung for SM Station season 1 and 2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU Express.
Johnny
(Birthday: February 9, 1995)
John Jun Suh, aka Johnny, is the lead dancer of NCT 127. The Korean-American artist joined SM Entertainment by entering the SM Global Chicago Audition in September 2007. In addition to his group activities, the 29-year-old artist made NCTzens proud by appearing at the 2022 Met Gala.
Apart from his activities as an idol, Johnny is interested in playing instruments, including the piano. He is also very close with other SM Entertainment artists, such as EXO Kai, Chanyeol, Suho, and Sehun.
Yuta
(Birthday: October 26, 1995)
Japanese artist Yuta is also one of the main dancers of NCT 127. The 29-year-old has made a name for himself by showing his diverse talents, whether dancing or acting. In 2022, he snagged the lead role in the Japanese film High&Low The Worst X (Cross).
Later, he played the lead role in the Japanese television series Play It Cool, Guys. In addition to acting, Yuta has been the MC of the weekly music show M Countdown. He also hosted the 2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships with Leeteuk, Dahyun, Johnny, Jaehyun, and Mark.
Doyoung
(Birthday: February 1, 1996)
Kim Dong Young, aka Doyoung, is another main vocalist of NCT 127. The 28-year-old made his solo debut both in music and acting. The “Here with Me” crooner released his first solo EP, Youth, on April 22, 2024.
Previously, Doyoung made his acting debut in the web drama Dear X Who Doesn’t Love Me. Apart from acting, Doyoung has also sung in multiple K-dramas. Some of his famous tracks are “Beautiful Day” for Dr. Romantic 3, “Like a Star” for Yumi’s Cells, and “Night Air” for Cafe Midnight.
Jaehyun
(Birthday: February 14, 1997)
Jeong Jaehyun is one of the main vocalists, lead dancers, sub-rappers, and visuals of NCT 127. The 27-year-old artist is considered one of the top K-pop fashion icons. In 2022, he became the global ambassador for the luxury brand Prada.
Besides Jaehyun‘s impeccable fashion sense, fans praised his acting skills as he debuted in acting in the K-drama “Dear.M.” He has also played the role of a male lead in the upcoming K-drama I Believe You.
Jungwoo
(Birthday: February 19, 1998)
Kim Jungwoo is an all-rounder who aced the roles of lead singer and lead dancer in NCT 127. The 26-year-old K-pop icon was introduced to fans first in the S.M. Rookies on April 18, 2017. He participated in the subunit NCT DoJaeJung, which consisted of Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoon.
The trio debuted on April 17, 2023, with the first extended play, Perfume. The unit’s specialty is its unique vocal tonality. All three members of DoJaeJung are stellar vocalists and charismatic performers.
Mark
(Birthday: August 2, 1999)
Mark Lee is a Canadian-Korean artist working in two NCT subunits, NCT 127 and NCT Dream. The 25-year-old performer is one of the group’s main rappers and dancers. His impressive talent in rapping and dancing also led him to appear as a member of SM’s Avengers group, SuperM.
Mark also took a keen interest in songwriting and contributed to multiple NCT hit songs. The singer appeared as a contestant in the 2017 show High School Rapper. He was also the host of the weekly music program Show! Music Core from 2018-2019.
Haechan
(Birthday: June 6, 2000)
Lee Dong Hyuck, aka Haechan, is the youngest member of NCT 127. The 24-year-old is also a part of NCT Dream and NCT 127. He was introduced to K-pop fans as a member of SM Rookies, a pre-debut training team of SM Entertainment.
Along with his group activities, Haechan has participated in various SM projects, including the 2021 Winter SM Town: SMCU Express, where he sang “Snow Dream 2021.” In 2023, Haechan released a non-album single, “N.Y.C.T.,” with group member Taeil.
Another inactive group member, Winwin, was a part of the NCT 127 dancing line. The 27-year-old Chinese artist currently focuses on his acting projects. The WayV star has acted in the 2023 C-drama Sweet Games and the 2024 drama Snowfall. His upcoming C-drama list includes Perfect Match and Moonlit Reunion.
Meanwhile, NCT 127 is all set for their 2024 comeback album, Walk. This will mark their seventh studio album release. The comeback project will drop on July 12 at 6 p.m. KST, 5 am ET, and 2.30 a.m. IST.
The group’s last album, Fact Check, sets high expectations for the group. The nine-track 2023 release sold over 1.9 million copies worldwide. In South Korea, it ranked number 1 on the Circle Album Chart with a whopping sales of 1,863,383 upon release. The album was also ranked 16 on the Billboard 200 chart with over 39,000 unit sales.
After the success of Fact Check, fans wait to see the new offering Walk, which will have the group’s signature neo-pop vibe. NCT 127 will appear for a special performance at KCON LA 2024 on July 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
