The first trailer for Agatha All Along, an MCU TV series on Agatha Harkness, has just dropped, and fans want to know why the titular character’s powers don’t work. Agatha was originally introduced in the MCU through WandaVision (2021) as the main antagonist of the series and was quickly established as an incredibly powerful witch. Naturally, there is considerable interest in knowing how she lost her powers.
Here’s everything we have learned about how Agatha lost her powers and how she can get them back.
How did Agatha Harkness lose her powers in Agatha All Along trailer?
Agantha lost her powers after her climactic battle with Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision.
In the WandaVision series finale, Agatha fights Wanda Maximoff, as the latter continues to attack her with chaos magic. As Agatha starts drawing in more and more of Wanda’s powers, she starts to believe that she has won the battle. However, when she tries to attack Wanda with a final energy blast, nothing happens. Wanda reveals that she has set magical runes around the barrier to gain complete control of the magic in the town of Westview.
This is when Wanda takes all of Agatha’s magical abilities, leaving her powerless. Wanda becomes the most powerful version of Scarlet Witch and traps Agatha in Westview as Agnes, the sitcom character the latter was previously pretending to be.
How will Agatha get her powers back in Agatha All Along?
According to the Agatha All Along trailer, the eponymous character will try to regain her powers by traveling through a magical path called the Witches Road.
In Marvel Comics, the Witches’ Road is a plane of existence on which only magic users can travel. In the trailer, we see that Agatha is trying to establish a coven so she will have companions in her perilous journey on the Witches Road, which Patti Lupone’s Lilia Calderu calls a “death wish.”
MCU trailers often don’t give away significant details about the plot, so it will be sensible to take what we see in the Agatha All Along trailer with a grain of salt. That said, the trailer indicates that the Witches’ Road will play an important role in the narrative, and given what it is in the comic books, that will likely be the case.
