Ann Wilson revealed her cancer diagnosis
Ann Wilson gave a major health update through an Instagram post, which she labeled as the “last public statement” on her cancer diagnosis.
Wilson started her announcement by stating, “I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it.”
Ann Wilson hinted at a hiatus to focus on her health, saying, “My doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.” Wilson also revealed that she is canceling her 2024 tour with Heart and plans to bounce back strong in 2025. She wrote, “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted & we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support.”
Ann Wilson states this health break is just a “pause” in her career and she aspires to sing more in the future.
According to AP News, this announcement has led to the postponement of more than 50 concerts across the US and Canada. On May 30, Ann Wilson also announced the cancelation of her Europe shows, citing she underwent a health “procedure for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks.”
