In late May 2024, Amazon Prime Video officially ordered the TV adaptation of Lane’s widely popular book series, as per Variety. Hero Fiennes Tiffin will portray the titular character. Guy Ritchie, who has helmed the Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, will direct the series. This is Ritchie and Tiffin’s second collaboration after The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
“In Young Sherlock, we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before,” the Snatch director explained. “We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love,” he added.
Matthew Parkhill will serve as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the project. If filming begins by the end of this year, the eight-episode series will come out in 2026 at the earliest.
