Created by Samuel Bodin, Marianne is a French horror-drama series streaming on Netflix. The story follows Emma Larsimon, a novelist who discovers that the horror stories she has penned have begun to materialize in the real world. She realizes that she must go back to her hometown and confront her past and the things that heavily influenced her work as an author. Season 1, comprising eight episodes, premiered on September 13, 2019. If you are wondering whether there will be a Season 2 of Marianne, this is what we have learned.
Here’s all we know about Marianne Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Marianne Season 2 release date?
There is no Marianne Season 2 release date as Netflix canceled the series after one season.
In January 2020, series creator Samuel Bodin took to Instagram to announce that Marianne would not continue beyond season 1. “There won’t be a second season for Marianne,” he wrote in the caption with a still from the horror series. “We are very sorry and sad about that. But we will see you in other stories.”
Bodin’s initial plan for the series involved a three-season run, but he later reportedly indicated that the response to season 1 was not strong enough to warrant a continuation. Despite this and the cancellation, Marianne Season 1 has a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and has only increased in popularity in the years since its original release.
The cast of Marianne includes Victoire Du Bois as Emma, Lucie Boujenah as Camille, and Tiphaine Daviot as Aurore. Marianne also features Ralph Amoussou as Séby and Mehdi Meskar as Tonio.
Why Marianne Season 2 isn’t happening
Marianne Season 2 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the series was canceled after Season 1. ComingSoon will provide an update if circumstances change, and Marianne comes with season 2.
The official synopsis for Marianne reads:
“When a novelist realizes her terrifying stories are coming true, she returns to her hometown to face the demons from her past that inspire her writing.”
