Based on David Nicholls’ namesake 2009 novel, which also inspired the 2011 cinematic adaptation starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, One Day is a romance drama series streaming on Netflix. The plot revolves around Dexter and Emma. They meet each other on their graduation night in 1988 and end up spending the night together. The series subsequently follows them through the next two decades as they waltz in and out of each other’s lives. The series premiered on February 8, 2024. Is there a One Day Season 2 release date?
There is no One Day Season 2 release date as the show was developed as a miniseries.
As of February 2024, One Day hasn’t been greenlit for season 2. Moreover, it’s unlikely to happen in the future as Netflix designates the show as a limited series. As mentioned above, the show is an adaptation of Nicholls’ novel. Also, it finishes the story it sets out to tell in the span of 14 episodes of the inaugural season.
While various networks, including Netflix, have turned projects that were conceived as limited series into multi-seasonal shows, this is unlikely to happen with One Life because the narrative covers 20 years of the lives of the two protagonists and concludes with (spoilers warning for those who haven’t seen the finale) Dexter and Emma ending up together.
