An adaptation of the namesake Japanese light novel series written by Ryūta Kijima and illustrated by Sando, the fantasy anime follows Rud, a shielder or tank in the hero’s party with a defense stat of 9999. Like others, Rud doesn’t raid dungeons for fame and fortune but to find a cure for his ailing younger sister. After the hero, Kyglas, throws him out of the group, claiming that his powers are useless, Rud meets a girl who explains the true purpose of his abilities.
