Golden Globes 2024: What Did Selena Gomez Say to Taylor Swift?
While it wasn’t audible, a lot of fans read Gomez and Keleigh Sperry’s lip movements to deduce that the former was presumably denied a picture with Timothée Chalamet by his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.
The following viral clip from X and TikTok shows the moment Gomez spoke with Swift and Sperry:
Since the conversation between Gomez, Swift, and Sperry didn’t have any audio, internet sleuths spent a lot of time reading their lip movements and expressions to come up with a sensible exchange. A result of that is the above video where an eagle-eyed fan added subtitles to the conversation.
People on X posted the following reactions to their subtitled conversation:
One fan wrote – “She was making sure to YELL that loud so everyone could hear her lmfaoooo.”
Another added – “I just love Taylor’s face.”
The reason Gomez’s subtitled clip has spread across social media like wildfire is because Kylie Jenner is great friends with Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber. So, according to Gomez’s fanbase, Jenner could have denied the photo because Gomez had been pitted against Hailey Bieber by the media after her long relationship with Justin Bieber ended. But according to Gomez’s reps, that isn’t the case at all.
Did Kylie Jenner stop Selena Gomez from taking a photo with Timothée Chalamet?
As per Gomez’s representative, she never asked to have a picture taken with Timothée Chalamet, so Kylie Jenner couldn’t have stopped her for that.
Entertainment Tonight revealed a statement provided by Selena’s reps referring to the Golden Globes moment, which says:
“Selena never went up to Timothée and Kylie and asked for a photo.”
People’s Magazine also added to this as according to a source close to Gomez, “she was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie” and “never even saw or spoke to them” at the event.
So, the official answer is that Kylie Jenner did not stop Selena Gomez from taking a photo with Timothée Chalamet and Gomez’s conversation has been misinterpreted.
