A lot of Taylor Swift fans are wondering if the TikTok-based rumors about her owning an abandoned mansion are true. Did she buy a mansion for her parents and then abandon it? Here’s all you need to know.
Does Taylor Swift have an abandoned mansion?
It’s likely that the rumors about Taylor Swift owning the viral abandoned mansion from TikTok are untrue as neither Taylor nor her parents have confirmed it.
In the 2020s, many TikTok videos have claimed that Taylor Swift owns an abandoned mansion which she bought in 2011 for her parents in Nashville. The estate in question is 23,000 square feet and according to the rumor, Swift never moved into the mansion or got it renovated because her parents got divorced. A few other rumors also suggest that the property is haunted.
But besides many TikTok videos claiming that Swift owns the mansion, there is no real evidence linking Swift or her parents to it. The rumors originated from a few reports of Swift buying two homes for her parents, which are mentioned below.
Did Taylor Swift buy a mansion for her parents?
No, Taylor Swift did not buy the mansion going viral on TikTok for her parents. However, she may have bought two different estates in Nashville.
With the huge financial success that Taylor Swift continues to cultivate, it’s safe to say that her investment in real estate is extremely high. While she’d certainly have the ability to purchase and abandon a mansion, there’s no real evidence to suggest that she did.
In 2011, Us Weekly reported that the popular songwriter bought a 3 bedroom home in Nashville, Tennessee, for $1.4 million to gift to her parents, Andrea and Scott Swift. The house was over 5,000 square feet and had been renovated after being built in the 1920s. According to the report, that house wasn’t abandoned as the Swift family lived there.
But another report from Business Insider suggests she also bought another 5600 square feet home for $2.5 million in Nashville in 2011, right before her parents got divorced. Again, these reports haven’t been confirmed or denied by Taylor Swift or her parents. But they became the source for the recent TikTok rumors about her abandoned Mansion.
It’s worth noting that the viral mansion on the video hosting service isn’t the same as the ones that Swift reportedly bought. A Facebook user also mentioned in the comments:
“This house is in Pennsylvania near where I live in a neighborhood called the manor, and Taylor Swift did not build it. Land was purchased in 1997, house built in 2000. The guy ran out of money and couldn’t finish the inside.”
A link from Realtor.com was posted by another Facebook user, which also suggests that the Mansion is situated in Lowhill Township, Pennsylvania, instead of Nashville. So, it is likely not the house that Swift may or may not have bought.
