Created by Vanessa Ramos, Blockbuster is a workplace comedy TV series streaming on Netflix. The plot revolves around Timmy Yoon, the manager of the last active Blockbuster store in the world, and the people who work with him. After learning that the entire video rental store chain is shutting down, Timmy and his co-workers make the last-ditch effort to save their branch. Season 1 premiered on November 3, 2022. If you are wondering whether there will be second season, we got you covered.
Here’s all we know about Blockbuster Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Blockbuster Season 2 release date?
There is no Blockbuster Season 2 release date as the series was canceled after one season.
In December 2022, less than a month after the series premiere, Netflix announced that Blockbuster had been canceled. The series garnered a poor response from the critics and currently has a 23% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience response reportedly wasn’t encouraging either. All these factors likely contributed to Netflix’s decision not to renew the show for Season 2.
The cast includes Randall Park as Timmy Yoon, Melissa Fumero as Eliza Walker, Olga Merediz as Connie Serrano, Tyler Alvarez as Carlos Herrera, Madeleine Arthur as Hannah Hadman, and more.
Why Blockbuster Season 2 isn’t happening
Blockbuster Season 2 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, Netflix canceled the series after the first season. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.
The official synopsis for Blockbuster reads:
“In this feel-good workplace comedy, the staff at the last surviving Blockbuster video store tries to keep the business afloat.”
