A new Suits spin-off series is currently in development at Universal. It will reportedly be set in Los Angeles in the same time frame as Suits, which takes place in New York City.
Speaking at the U.K. industry conference Content London in late November 2023, Beatrice Springborn, president at Universal Content Productions and Universal International Studios, referred to the show as “Suits L.A.” However, a source reportedly told Variety that Suits L.A. is not the upcoming show’s official title. Suits spin-off could arrive sometime in 2025.
At the above-mentioned event, Springborn announced they were working on the project, describing it as “fun and happy.” Although not much is known about the cast of the upcoming series, Springborn hinted that it will comprise attractive individuals, just like the original.
“It is amazing looking people in great clothes but at the core of it you can’t have a show that’s successful with just that,” the executive said. “It has to have great storytelling and great character work. So how do you do something that can be ongoing, have a gloss to it and be a continuing series that everyone wants?”
Produced by Universal Content Productions, Suits, created by Aaron Korsh, originally aired on USA Network between June 23, 2011, and September 25, 2019, and even though it was highly successful during this period, it achieved new heights after it became available on Netflix and Peacock. Non-English adaptations have been developed in South Korea, Japan, and Egypt, and a short-lived spin-off, Pearson, aired on USA Network for one season between July 17, 2019, and September 18, 2019.
As of early December 2023, it is unclear whether production has begun on the project. Suits spent about a year in active development, whereas Pearson spent over two years. Given these precedences, the new Suits spin-off is likely to come out sometime in 2025.
