The ending of The Marvels shows Kamala Khan, aka Ms Marvel, do something major that teases a new avenue the MCU can explore in the future, potentially by introducing the Young Avengers. Here is a full breakdown of what she does with spoilers.
Are Ms Marvel and Kate Bishop forming the Young Avengers?
Ms Marvel and Kate Bishop are reportedly forming the Young Avengers in The Marvels.
In the ending scene of The Marvels, Kate Bishop and her dog, Lucky the Pizza Dog from Hawkeye, come home after presumably fighting crime. Ms Marvel, sitting in the dark in Kate’s apartment, tells Kate that she is putting together a team of young heroes that is mostly her but has some feelers out. She then tells Kate that she wants her on the team and asks her to join.
Marvel has already been subtly laying the seeds for a Young Avengers project by introducing its core members in different projects:
- America Chavez – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- Billy and Tommy Maximoff – WandaVision
- Elijah Bradley/Patriot – The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
- Cassie Lang/Stature – Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
- Kid Loki – Loki
The fact that Marvel has now offered a more direct hint to the Young Avengers, rather than their previously subtle ones, implies that a project revolving around the team would drop eventually.
Although they are not part of the line-up in the comics, Ironheart and Shuri’s Black Panther could also become potential members, given how they were also strongly set up.
Are the Young Avengers coming to the MCU?
The Young Avengers will very likely come to the MCU. However, Marvel Studios has not yet officially confirmed a Young Avengers project.
Marvel Studios still has significant legwork left to finish, such as fully establishing Eli Bradley, and introducing prime versions of Billy and Tommy Maximoff and possibly Kid Loki before they move forward with the potential Young Avengers project.
